Edison – Astro EP

January 10, 2014

I meant to post this when Loma Prieta came to town and I was really excited about Melbourne Screamo but then I forgot. They played with Loma at the Gasometer (RIP) and it was probably the best set at the show because they didn’t have vocals for Loma’s slot which was weird. And because Edison is really good live. I’m not sure if they’re still around, I can’t find a Facebook for them and my visa ran out so I don’t live in Melbourne any more.

Heads and Heads – Four Way Split

January 9, 2011

Following up on the previous post, I bring you the latest release by Heads and Heads. This is a four way split between Dying in Motion (Switzerland), Heads and Heads (Spain), The Plague Sermon (UK), and Virginia on Duty (Malaysia). It’s a collaboration between several labels including *ahem* mine. Yes, I’m posting my own record on here. I’m having a hard time moving records before I move to Melbourne, cut me some slack.

Transistor Transistor – Transistor Transitor Vs. Wolves Split

January 3, 2011

Transistor Transistor and Wolves alike are two very memorable American Screamo bands. Transistor Transistor brings to the table a very abrasive, somewhat Metal inspired sound to the table (in my opinion, better than both of their LP’s). Wolves is possibility one of the best Emo bands the genre has seen during it’s tail end of existence. They broke up in 2004 after a great run of releasing consistently solid records, and having played with such acts as Orchid. Transistor Transistor still remains to this day, albeit they appear to be inactive.

More Screamo/Math Rock hybrid that has been popping up all over the midwest of the United States. Think The Reptilian. Enjoy it.

Hot Cross – Cryonics

July 9, 2010

In commemoration of the three year anniversary that Hot Cross broke up, I give you one of their early (and best) albums. They were comprised almost entirely of members of Saetia, which is surprising. Because they didn’t suck like Saetia did.

It’s some pretty nitty gritty, lo-fi, solid Skramz.

I Would Set Myself on Fire for You – …Believes in Patterns

May 24, 2010

Probably “one of the greats” among their genre. The viola that they incorporate really distinguishes I Would etc… from any other band. Their legacy continues on in such bands as Dot Flash Line and Optimus Prime.

Amanda Woodward – La Decadence De La Decadence

May 14, 2010

Amanda Woodward is a band that is probably overshadowed by the surprising amount of French Skramz that exists. Forget Daitro and the other big names, Amanda Woodward puts out consistently solid records that stays true to the genre.
