Heads and Heads – Four Way Split

January 9, 2011

Following up on the previous post, I bring you the latest release by Heads and Heads. This is a four way split between Dying in Motion (Switzerland), Heads and Heads (Spain), The Plague Sermon (UK), and Virginia on Duty (Malaysia). It’s a collaboration between several labels including *ahem* mine. Yes, I’m posting my own record on here. I’m having a hard time moving records before I move to Melbourne, cut me some slack.

Transistor Transistor – Transistor Transitor Vs. Wolves Split

January 3, 2011

Transistor Transistor and Wolves alike are two very memorable American Screamo bands. Transistor Transistor brings to the table a very abrasive, somewhat Metal inspired sound to the table (in my opinion, better than both of their LP’s). Wolves is possibility one of the best Emo bands the genre has seen during it’s tail end of existence. They broke up in 2004 after a great run of releasing consistently solid records, and having played with such acts as Orchid. Transistor Transistor still remains to this day, albeit they appear to be inactive.

Limp Wrist – Discography

May 12, 2010

Welcome to Queercore, a genre many of you probably have (or should have) heard about. Simply put it’s Hardcore using the advantage of it’s pissed off, in your face nature to bring to light gay and lesbian issues. Limp Wrist is easily the poster-child of modern Queercore. Don’t underestimate them by their sexual orientation, Limp Wrist among many other bands can be as abrasive as any other Hardcore band you’ve listened to.

My Application to Heaven

May 12, 2010

Before I elaborate, this post is a single song (as opposed to an EP or LP), and one of the most well executed songs in the history of Hardcore at that. And that’s a statement I will defend. My Application to Heaven is easily one of Pg. 99’s most well known songs, and most quoted. The song in many ways sums up the emotion that Pg. 99 bellowed throughout their career. It’s fast, it’s rough, it’s powerful as hell. This may just be one song, but it easily will blow you away more than half of the Hardcore LP’s we’ve put up here through the years.

Don’t let the beginning of this release dismay you – the ambience builds in a way as to make the heavier parts even more epic. Just reminds me of Bowels (ooh namedrop!).
