Ex-Whirr vocalist Kristina Esfandiari’s new project. It’s really good and a lot darker.
Oh yeah and thanks again to everyone who’s still subscribed to this blog and still interested in our (mostly my) music taste.
This is some seriously underrated shit. I wasn’t in Melbourne when they played but I heard it was not well attended and that makes me sad.
They’re kind of like the British Sinaloa. Which is another band (I think?) that’s not together any more. What I’m trying to get at is emo is dead to me now.
Adam/Kill the Zodiac is a very cool dude who’s been up here before. It’s probably my favourite ambient project. These are two new songs.
I meant to post this when Loma Prieta came to town and I was really excited about Melbourne Screamo but then I forgot. They played with Loma at the Gasometer (RIP) and it was probably the best set at the show because they didn’t have vocals for Loma’s slot which was weird. And because Edison is really good live. I’m not sure if they’re still around, I can’t find a Facebook for them and my visa ran out so I don’t live in Melbourne any more.
We took a brief hiatus from new releases we like to “classics” we like. HRSTA for all of you who aren’t familiar is a project from Mike Moya. He left GY!BE (and then came back when they got back together). HRSTA uses a lot of whispery thin vocals and unconventional sounds, like mock-theremins with a screwdriver on the fretboard of a guitar. Unfortunately it looks like they’re on a bit of a break.
